“Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is like a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
–Langston Hughes

My son received this in a fortune cookie while we were out having some family time. When I read it, I thought that the quote was quite beautiful and wanted to create an image that depicted what I imagined it to look like — or feel like. The subject is a girl holding onto her dreams and reaching for more. I really believe that no matter where you are in life, there’s always room for improvement and growth. The foliage is separated into tiers to depict the many levels that it takes to reach for what seems like the top. And the entire piece is inside of a silhouette representing the beautiful thoughts and dreams.
